Whilst there will always be some variations, most installations involve the following.
1. Installation of a small antennae on the external side of your house. This will face a distribution cell. The smallest of these antennae are about 12 cm square. The largest are the size of a Pringles crisp carton. The size selected depends on the distance of your house from the distribution cell.
2. A cable connecting the antennae and your PC. This is usually a thick CAT5 cable. There are limitations as to how far from the antennae the PC can be located as signal strength can be lost if a lengthy cable is used.
3. A wireless card is inserted in the rear of your PC.
The entire process should take 1.5- 2 hours, and will be undertaken by our partners and suppliers Gaia PLC who are located in Bangor.
